Tips for Photo Booths

Photobooths have become a hot item to have at your wedding or event. In this article I'll present some tips to help make your photo booth as memorable as possible. As a photographer I work with my clients to ensure that their event is as memorable as possible. Clients that are willing to work closely with their wedding vendors can ensure that their guests have the best experience possible.

The first thing you need to be sure of is that you've chosen a photo booth that has a skilled photographer. Many companies simply rent out a poorly built booth that is essentially a big box with a poor camera inside. An open air booth in a studio style will really help the atmosphere of your event, particularly when the photographer is able to help your guests get creative and have fun. Professional equipment will create stunning images that entertain and capture the memory. High resolution images make it easy to create large prints, so make sure the photo booth operator is able to accomplish this.

Tips for a great photo booth experience:

1) Setup the booth in a space that isn't too crowded, allow 10x20 feet of room

2) Have custom props that match your event's theme. A skilled photographer and photo booth operator will have their own props for your guests, but adding your own props really sets your booth apart.

3) Let everyone know that the it is open. Often the DJ or MC can announce this. This is particularly important if the booth is in a separate room.

4) Have a guest supervise children, particularly those under 10.

5) Create a collage out of the photos that are created. The photographer should be able to provide this service. This can provide a great summary of the event and of the action that took place within the photo booth.

6) Provide at least one plug in for the operator. The photo booth studio lights require external power in order to function. Some times a battery pack can be utilized for an outdoor setting, talk to your photographer.

7) Book early! It's not unusual for me to be booked months in advance. Even a booking a year in advance isn't out of the question for a peak summer date.

8) Relax, have fun, and enjoy the event! Your guests will remember your wedding as the one in which they had a blast!
